According to the latest labour market figures from the Office for National Statistics, there were fewer unemployed people and more people in employment compared with the previous quarter and last year. The number of unemployed people fell by 57,000 to 2.51 million and there were altogether 29.71 million people in employment, 16,000 more than last quarter.
Furthermore, there are more than half a million jobs available in the UK right now. There were 529,000 job vacancies for April to June 2013, up 24,000 from January to March 2013 and up 56,000 on a year earlier, the highest since 2008.
